About the Circuit
The Circuito Liberdade was founded in the year of 2010 through an innovative action of Minas Gerais state government in partnership with private sectors. The historical buildings formerly used by the public administration and located around Praça da Liberdade became spaces for the promotion of the arts, culture and heritage conservation.
Since then, the Circuito Liberdade has overspilled the bounds of Praça da Liberdade and expanded its range of action, integrating other cultural institutions and also creative, educational and tourist initiatives within the boundaries of Avenida do Contorno, that is, the area that corresponds to Belo Horizonte’s original city plan.

The Circuito Liberdade is consolidated. With the state government’s official transfer to Cidade Administrativa, the historical buildings formerly used by the state secretariats were transformed into the Circuito Cultural Praça da Liberdade through a new public-private initiative.
